When it comes time to wash your car, home, patio, or deck, using a bucket of soap and water can be a tedious process. You have to use a lot of elbow grease, buff it until it shines and is dry, and then have to move on to the next tough task. Pressure washers provide a unique solution to this problem and the best electric pressure washers will get your surfaces clean without worrying about gas fumes and fuel costs.
Electric power washers are a great, quick way to clean your things, but how do you know which pressure washer is best for your everyday use? There are several great products on the market, and we’ve done some research and testing to see which ones are the cream of the crop. Before we get to those reviews, let’s take into consideration the best traits of the best electric power washers as well as some pre-purchase considerations.
There are many different types of pressure washers on the market, each with its own method of locomotion or carrying. It’s with this in mind that you should consider the inherent maneuverability of your new electric pressure washer. As an electrical unit, an electric pressure washer will almost automatically have more built-in maneuverability than a gas-powered one, but there are still different styles of maneuverability available. Let’s take a look at a few:
Four Wheeled – These four-wheeled pressure washers can be very maneuverable. They are stable and sturdy but can be rather large, so you might not be able to fit them into smaller spaces.
Two Wheeled – These are stand pressure washers that can be rested in a standing position while you use them. Some can be laid down, which means that if you want to power wash a lower surface, then this might be the type for you. These are very maneuverable but can be a little less sturdy and stable than the four-wheeled variety.
Pull-Behind – As you might expect, these are pulled behind you while you are maneuvering and washing your surfaces. We found that this is a very easy type of electric pressure washer to maneuver and control because it’s both stable and can’t be tipped over while you work. Additionally, it’s very easy to pull these when you need to get into tight spaces.
Like many powered devices, electric pressure washers can have varying levels of power output. Optimally, you want to have a very powerful unit that can quickly clean your surfaces. That being said, you also don’t want one that is so powerful that it can damage things like your vehicle or your siding either. Ideally, shoot for a pressure washer that has an output between 1,300 and 1,900 PSI. These are also best to be used with the nozzle about 12 inches away from the surface as well.
The nozzle of a pressure washer is one of its most important components. Some washers include multiple nozzles that you can use to change up the pressure stream from your device, but some you have to purchase separately. Most nozzles are color-coded so that you can know which stream you are working with. Let’s take a look at a few:
- White – These nozzles are great for cleaning a vehicle because they provide a good angle of cleaning. The white nozzle typically has a wider spray of around 40 degrees or so. This nozzle’s wash is relatively gentle but is perfect for ridding your surfaces of standard levels of grime and dust.
- Red – This is the most concentrated pressure washer nozzle. When you need to hit a very specific area, this is the nozzle for the job. Be careful when using this on items that can be easily damaged; its high-pressure stream can easily strip paint or break off car components.
- Yellow – These nozzles provide a 15-degree spray, which makes it a great in-between nozzle to use on surfaces that you want to have a little more precision on, but don’t want to inadvertently damage. We found that this is a great nozzle for washing away excess soap and chemicals.
- Green – Green provides a 25-degree angle of spraying. This is a good nozzle for removing road detritus like stuck on leaves and dirt.
Gallons Per Minute
The best pressure washers on the market will have a high gallon per minute output. While this isn’t as great for your vehicle as it can be for your home, a higher rate of water output will quickly saturate and clean the surface that you are trying to pressure wash. If you’re planning on using these primarily for your vehicle, you can definitely get away with using a relatively light duty unit.

1) THE FORCE 1800 – POWERHOUSE INTERNATIONAL – PULL BEHIND – 1.6 GPM 1800 PSI (2600 PSI – “IPB”) Electric Pressure Washer
When we did our first tests of the Force 1800, we were amazed at how portable and maneuverable it proved to be. It is designed to be a quick and mobile product that has plenty of cabling and usability for those who need to power wash their belongings. We also liked how beginner-friendly this product is; it has an easy to understand interface that lets you get to pressure washing quickly.
Additionally, this is a high-pressure machine; it has an 1800 PSI sprayer that can be a bit powerful for cleaning cars and the like but is perfect for cleaning tougher surfaces like siding. Another really useful feature is the product’s ability to quickly store all of its accessories; the Force 1800 comes with three nozzles, a nylon brush, and a soap dispenser.
Once again, this product is very easy to control and use. Powerhouse International even has included a footswitch in the design of the product so that you won’t have to bend over to operate it.
2) Sun Joe SPX3000 Pressure Joe 2030 PSI 1.76 GPM 14.5-Amp Electric Pressure Washer
This product has a lot of power; in fact, it has an 1800 watt motor that is perfect for managing the amazing pressure, which clocks in at 2000 PSI. This product can operate at 1.76 GPM, which is a more than enough power to clean the majority of surfaces. During our testing, we were impressed by the fact that this product can be very easily connected when you need them.
This is enhanced by the fact that the product comes with five spray nozzles. Having so many options for flow, this is a really great product for someone who intends to use this product for a wide variety of cleaning jobs. Additionally, not every pressure washer is stable when you are moving constantly, but this product has a lot of great stability so that you won’t have to worry about accidentally tipping it over.
3) Karcher K3 Follow-Me Electric Power Pressure Washer
If you need mobility, then this is a great option for you. We really loved the four-wheeled design of this product during our testing. It was very easy to simply pull this electric pressure washer where we needed it to go. As a matter of fact, this is the only four-wheeled model on the market today.
It’s important to note that with some washers, it can get a bit annoying to constantly move back and forth to the washer in order to move it into position. The wheels on this product make using it over a wide area very easy, which is why we consider this to be the most maneuverable product in this guide.
One of the chief advantages to using a pressure washer is that they tend to use less water than garden hoses while simultaneously providing more cleaning power. This product uses a very small amount of water; about 1.3 gallons per minute, but it delivers this water at 1800 PSI.
4) AR Blue Clean AR383 1,900 PSI Electric Pressure Washer
At only $126.32, this is a very economical electric pressure washer that manages to generate an impressive 1900 PSI. As a matter of fact, this product comes with a very functional pressurized washer gun attachment, a 20-foot long hose, two wands for range and precision, and a detergent bottle.
During our testing, we were greatly impressed by the quietness of this unit. Electric pressure washers tend to be much quieter than gas-powered units, but this pressure washer is very quiet even for an electric. If you are looking to save water, this is a very conservation-friendly product; in fact, it uses about 80 percent less water than the majority of the pressure washers on the market today.
Another feature of note is the fact that this pressure washer is very easy to assemble. It took us less than 30 seconds to put our test unit together, which was a much faster assembly than any of the other featured products.
5) Ivation Electric Pressure Washer 2200 PSI 1.8 GPM with Power Hose Nozzle Gun and Turbo Wand
Another powerful unit, this Ivation product has a pressure of 2,200 PSI and uses 1.8 gallons per minute. We were fairly impressed with the amount of included nozzles with this Ivation product; you’ll have five out of the box. This amount of stream customization provides a very professional level of choice that we found very useful. The nozzle allows you to select low-pressure options like foam mode to high-pressure options like the tightly pointed pressure nozzle.
Despite being a stand unit, we liked how stable this product proved itself to be during our testing. The wheels on this unit are also large and mobile so that terrain won’t be too much of an issue as you pull it to where you need it to go. The final feature of the Ivation pressure washer that we thought was very useful is its built-in soap tank, which works seamlessly with the foaming nozzle.
6) Sun Joe SPX1000 1450 PSI 1.45 GPM Electric Pressure Washer, 11.5-Amp
Maneuverability is often synonymous with compactness, and the Sun Joe SPX1000 is the most compact electric pressure washer in this guide. While you won’t be doing professional-grade pressure washing with the SPX1000, we found it to be a great pressure washer for the majority of home tasks. As a matter of fact, we used this when we pressure washed our test vehicles and loved how easy it was to take around the car and wash hard-to-reach areas.
At 1450 PSI, the SPX1000 definitely has the least amount of maximum pressure of the devices that we covered, but at the same time, it’s ease of use and maneuverability make it a worthy addition to our guide.
It also has a very quick to assemble design that was very convenient. The gallons per minute of this product are set at a 1.45 GPM rate of flow, which is much less water than a traditional garden hose. We also liked the fact that it had a 33-inch extension wand, which lets you get into the higher areas like roofs and the tops of RVs.
If you are seeking a method to quickly clean your car or home, there’s nothing better than an electric pressure washer. We’ve covered some great products here in our guide; each of them will provide you with some great value, but based on our research and tests, we feel that the Force 1800 – Powerhouse International – Pull Behind pressure washer wins out over the other products. It has some great maneuverability, some excellent overheating protection, and a great way to store the product’s accessories on the unit. In addition, it has 1800 PSI and a relatively low price of $119.80.
When it comes to the best bang for your buck, we really liked the Sun Joe SPX1000 for its overall simplicity and low price. You won’t find a better pressure washer for as low as $81.59. We also loved how easy it was to adjust the pressure with this product.
